ILIGAN OBSERVES DISASTER CONSCIOUSNESS MONTH

Iligan City formally launched, July 1, its observance of National Disaster Consciousness Month at the Freedom Park.

The occasion was spearheaded by the Iligan City Risk Reduction and Management Office.

In a message delivered by his Chief of Staff Ms. Queenie C. Belmonte, Iligan City Lone District Congressman Vicente F. Belmonte, Jr. urged the people to be ready all the time.

“It always pays to be ready,” he said.

He also lauded Acting Mayor Roderic Marzo’s consultative governance.

He said that he too being the representative of rhe people regularly consults with them regularly through their leaders.

“Consultation is important because “Democracy is government of the people, by the people and for the people,” he said.

Acting Mayor Marzo also emphasized the importance of being ready all the time since nobody knows when a calamity will happen.

The program was also highlighted by the induction of new CCAT members namely 1002nd Community Defense Center (CDC), Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) Iligan City and Lanao del Norte Director Col Siegred Espina; 1002nd CDC-Iligan Philippine Army Reserve Command Lt Col Rolando Gemina; and Eagles’ Club Representative Councilor Emmanuel Salibay.
